kauai is much more stylish and romantic. Cabo is kind of touristy but really cool as well. Cabo is a cheaper place to visit and the party scene is great. You will spend less money in Cabo but if you want style and romance Kauai is the place to go.
I know that this doesn’t help much but its accurate. If I want to party I go to Cabo, The Sailing boys call it “The Cape”
Kauai is for kicking back on the beach with relaxation in mind. You can do that in Cabo as well but that’s not what the town is all about.
I would go to Kauai unless you want to party hardy. In Cabo, you still have to worry a lot about the water and that can sure ruin a vacation real quick. Plus you don’t need a passport or worry about exchanging money or the language to go to Kauai. In Kauai, I loved the movie tour, and riding quads through the fields and snorkling too. Cabo is a great place to get good tequilla and Cabo Wabo is a fun nightclub.
You will need a passport to go to either place, including Hawaii, because of 9/11. You used to not need one, but you do now. You will be stopped by US customs if you do not have a passport. I would choose Hawaii, it’s more expensive but it is more romantic and it’s also fun.
